It is quite interesting that he raised a new conception, of “global political cities”, instead of the nation state as  main actor in international relations.

He also gave some indicators of how to analyze Asian ‘ influences in Washington D.C.

eg: embassy (China, the largetest), FTA, official/working visits

Although he tired to explain Japan’s relative inactivity in Washington in a comparative perspective, he ended up in talking more about rising China.
